SWS denies survey on Leni Robredo’s mental health

MANILA, Philippines — Pollster Social Weather Stations (SWS) has denied releasing a survey on the supposed public perception on the mental health of Vice President Leni Robredo. 

The Vice President, who is leaving today for the United States and Canada to attend various speaking engagements and meet potential partners for her flagship programs, also slammed the false report on her social media accounts. 

In a statement on Wednesday, SWS said it has not conducted any survey related to the state of mental health of any public official or person. 

It cited a circulating false online report targeting Robredo, published days after SWS released a survey on public perception on the health of President Duterte. 

“SWS strongly condemns the spread of misinformation with malicious intent,” said the pollster. 

“The public is enjoined to rely only on the SWS website, at www.sws.org.ph, for SWS survey reports released to the public,” it added. 

Robredo said after the succession issue, “this piece of misinformation again” comes out, and “they’re coming in full swing.”

The Vice President was referring to the proposed charter that removed her from the line of succession. 

The House of Representatives has since reinstated her in the line of succession following deliberations on the proposal pushed by former president and Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Robredo will deliver the keynote speech at an event organized by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), a policy think tank based in Washington. 

Her office said Robredo will speak at the CSIS-Pertamina-Banyan Tree Leadership Forum and the US-Philippines Strategic Initiative, described as “premier platforms for discussing issues that have significant impact on Southeast Asia and the Indo-Pacific.”

“Aside from other speaking engagements before Filipino associations, the Vice President is also slated to meet with potential partners for her office’s flagship anti-poverty program, Angat Buhay, as well as with Filipinos who thrived here for Istorya ng Pag-asa,” read the advisory from the Office of the Vice President. 

During her radio program last Sunday, Robredo said the invitation for her to speak at the leadership forum was sent to her office as early as last year. 

She said they looked at other invitations for engagements to include in her itinerary for the upcoming trip. 

“On the side, we will do other things,” she said in Filipino. “For example, we will assess if we can have more Angat Buhay partners there.”
