MANILA, Philippines — Resigned Presidential Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson said she is “open” to running in the 2019 midterm polls, but has yet to decide on whether to seek a seat in the Senate or the House of Representatives.

Uson said this in an interview at the upper house Wednesday, shortly after she announced her resignation from her position.

“Senate, Congress—hindi ko pa po alam pero open po tayo (I don’t know yet but I am open),” she said.

The resigned Palace official earlier said in Filipino that she is “bringing the battle to the Senate or the House.”

But she said that she is still reading the pulse of her supporters.

“Kung ano po ‘yung mababasa kong mga comment sa Facebook, kung ano ‘yung sasabihin ng supporters doon. Doon ko po titignan (It depends on what I read on Facebook, on what our supporters have to say),” she said.

Asked if she is being eyed as a nominee of ACTS-OFW party-list, Uson replied in the negative then laughed.

The former assistant secretary’s resignation comes a week before the filing of certificates of candidacy for the 2019 national and local polls, which is slated from October 11 to 17.

The latest Pulse Asia survey for next year’s senatorial candidates showed that 63 percent of the respondents said they were aware of Uson. But only 1.3 percent said they would vote for her.

She ranked in the 45 to 63 bracket.

“Nakakafrustrate ‘yung ilang mambabatas natin na andyan sa posisyon pero ang iniisip lang nila ‘yung pansariling interes. Kailangang magkaroon ng boses ang ordinaryong tao at gagawin natin ‘yan kung sa anumang paraan na pupuwede,” Uson said.

(I am frustrated with some of our lawmakers because they are only thinking of their personal interests. Our ordinary people need to have a voice and we will do that in whichever way possible.)

The blogger-turned-public official said she had resigned from her post to ease the passage of the Presidential Communications and Operations Office budget for 2019, which has been deferred by the House of Representatives due to her absence.

Uson accused some members of the lower house of blocking the agency’s proposed P1.41 billion budget.

The staunch supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte has been accused of spreading false information and tarnishing the image of the government.
