MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon Paeng (international name Trami) left the country yesterday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

As of 10 a.m. yesterday, the eye of of Paeng was located 765 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes and was moving toward Japan.

Paeng did not affect any part of the country as earlier predicted by state weather forecasters.

Meanwhile, a low-pressure area monitored outside the Philippine area of responsibility has maintained its strength as it moved west-northwest.

The center of the weather disturbance was located at 1,990 kilometers east of the Visayas.

With maximum sustained winds of 60 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 75 kph, the low-pressure area was moving west northwest at 45 kph. 

“It is expected to enter the country by Tuesday and will be named Queenie,” the state weather bureau said, adding that the trough of Paeng is affecting extreme Northern Luzon.

The trough will bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Babuyan Group of Islands as well as Batanes, Ilocos Norte and Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.
