Damayan launches Typhoon Ompong fund drive

MANILA, Philippines — Operation Damayan, the philanthropic arm of The Philippine STAR media group, is launching a fund drive to assist families affected by Typhoon Ompong, which slammed into Northern Luzon on Saturday morning, causing widespread devastation, flooding and landslides.

Typhoon Ompong forced the government to relocate thousands of families in Luzon to
 various evacuation centers.

Operation Damayan appeals to kind-hearted donors to extend assistance in cash or in kind to immediately benefit a number of displaced families.

Cash donations may be deposited to Philstar Daily Inc./Operation Damayan Metrobank Savings Account No. 151-7-15152422-9. Damayan also welcomes donations of food, clothing and other basic essentials, which may be delivered to The Philippine STAR’s office at 202 Roberto Oca corner Railroad Sts., Port Area, Manila.
