Operation Damayan fund drive update for San Mateo, Rizal
San Mateo was recently declared in a state of calamity following days of flooding, after which The STAR announced a fund drive to benefit displaced families.

MANILA, Philippines — Volunteers of Operation Damayan, the philanthropic arm of The Philippine Star media group, head for San Mateo, Rizal today to conduct relief operations in cooperation with the office of Mayor Cristina Diaz.

San Mateo was recently declared in a state of calamity following days of flooding, after which The STAR announced a fund drive to benefit displaced families.

Sending in donations in response were the following: Isaac Belmonte, P100,000; Herbert Bautista, P100,000; TGFHA LV, P70,000; a friend of The STAR, P50,000; K.L., P25,000; Jem Lim, P5,000; and RL, P2,000. Readers Susan de Guzman and Jhon Rozzkha also donated assorted clothes.

Funds raised from the relief drive, including P130,000 from The Philippine STAR, totaled P482,000 as of yesterday.

Operation Damayan, which conducts projects for the indigent throughout the year, thanks its donors and continues to welcome assistance from kindhearted readers. Cash donations may be deposited to Philstar Daily Inc./Operation Damayan Metrobank Savings Account No. 151-7-15152422-9.
