MANILA, Philippines (Updated 7:40 a.m., July 23) — A number of local government units have announced class suspensions for Monday, July 23, due to the expected inclement weather brought about by Tropical Depression Josie.

Masantol, Pampanga Mayor Danilo Guintu called off classes in all levels in both private and public schools in his area for the whole week from July 23 to 27 due to the flooding and continuous downpour.

Meanwhile, Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista suspended classes in the city in view of the third State of the Nation Address of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Work suspensions

Meanwhile, government work was also suspended for Monday, July 23, in some areas. Excluded in the suspension, however, are local agencies directly involved in disaster risk reduction and management operations.

Here are the areas where work in government offices are canceled:

  • Calasiao, Pangasinan
