MANILA, Philippines — Ozamiz City Councilor Ricardo “Ardot” Parojinog could be detained at Camp Crame in Quezon City once he is brought back to the country from Taiwan, a police official said yesterday.

Chief Superintendent John Bulalacao, Philippine National Police spokesman, said they are ready to temporarily accommodate Parojinog, who is wanted for drug charges, at the PNP custodial center.

In a text message, Bulalacao said they have yet to receive word from Taiwanese authorities on Parojinog’s arrival schedule.

Parojinog is being investigated for violation of Taiwan immigration laws. He and other members of his family were targets of anti-drug raids in Ozamiz City last July 30.

Ardot’s brother – former mayor Reynaldo Parojinog – and several other members of their family and associates were killed in the raids. He managed to escape and went into hiding. His niece, Ozamiz Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog-Echavez, is detained at the PNP custodial facility.

Sen. Leila de Lima, former senator Ramon Revilla Jr. and suspected Abu Sayyaf rebels are also imprisoned in the PNP custodial center.

Bulalacao said Parojinog is a “big fish” because of his involvement in the proliferation of illegal drugs in Ozamiz.
