Muslims warned of Ramadan provocateurs
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) yesterday urged Muslims to be wary of people who might take advantage of the holy month of Ramadan to sow chaos.
“We enjoin the Muslim community to remain vigilant against unscrupulous individuals who will disrupt the peace and create chaos,” PNP spokesman Chief Supt. John Bulalacao said.
Bulalacao said the public should immediately report suspicious looking individuals in their communities.
He assured Muslims they put in place security measures for the commemoration of Ramadan.
“We shall ensure that peace and order is maintained during the celebration to keep its holy observance,” Bulalacao said.
The holy month of Ramadan started yesterday, which Muslims observe through prayer and fasting.
