Jewelry retail chain banks on gold’s healing properties

CEBU, Philippines — Cebu-based fine jewelry retail chain Oro China Jewelry is banking on the least publicized healing properties of gold, and its ability to promote wellness.

Now on its 50th year, Oro China is trailblazing with the modern market dynamics and trends, although fine jewelry is a timeless and classic product, by highlighting gold's mythical healing properties, just like other precious and gem stones.

Oro China recently announced its collaborative partnership with Yoga teacher and wellness advocate Jennifer Martinez for the introduction of Oro China's limited and distinct collection of Yoga related designs, and bohemian inspired designs to excite the market and deviate from the traditional impression of classical jewelry pieces.

According to Jewel Jalandoni, Oro China's marketing manager, it is time to remind the modern market that Yoga, a Hindu spiritual and ascetic discipline, which is closely linked to health and wellness, have ancient history trail, and that gold is one of the gems used by the ancient Indians as one of their tools for healing.

Mythical literatures have it that Gold healing properties include the ability to promote and symbolize purity of the spiritual aspect of "All That Is".

Accordingly, it is also a symbolic of spirituality and development in the realm of complete understanding, allowing one to both attain and maintain communion with the source of all being. Gold has been called "the master healer".

"Gold is not just for fashion and status symbol, it has its own healing properties," said Jalandoni reminding the market of gold's value other than investment.

Its collaboration with Martinez, will introduce the limited #YogiJen Collections pieces, featuring Yoga and boho-inspired pieces set of gold, complemented with other healing stones like amethyst, garnet, sapphire and diamonds.

As a company, Jalandoni said Oro China Geoup, which also operates the DiaGold and Oro Galleria stores, has been practicing health and wellness habit by offering fitness and yoga activities to their employees.

Oro China has over 40 branches nationwide, six of which are located in Cebu. The fine jewelry business started in Cebu in 1967.
