Sara Duterte: Krissy does not refer to Kris Aquino

Janvic Mateo - The Philippine Star

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio denied that her brother, resigned vice mayor Paolo Duterte, was referring to media personality Kris Aquino when he used “Krissy” as a caption  in a post he shared on Facebook.

“From what I understand, when he said Krissy, he was not referring to Kris Aquino,” the mayor told reporters in Filipino after Aquino invited Paolo to meet with her in person, apparently in reaction to the post.

On his Facebook account, the presidential son shared a post containing the text “the commemoration of EDSA is a reminder of a broken promise 30 years since (2 Aquinos and the corruption that prevailed).”

He added a caption reading, “Oo nga no…Sorry Krissy ha wag magdrama…Laro nalang PS4.”

Sara said Paolo was not referring to Kris Aquino in his caption but declined to answer when asked whom was he referring to, preferring that her brother answer the question.

In her invitation, Aquino invited Paolo to have coffee or beer with her for them to know each other personally.

“In this instance, I’m not my mother’s daughter, but my father’s- who believed that everything could be worked out through face-to-face dialogue,” she wrote.

“I have no agenda other than the desire for you to personally get to know me and vice versa. Too much bad blood had been manufactured between our families. We have the chance to hear each other out,” the actress added.

The post contained a collage of quotations and images of Aquino and the former Davao vice mayor, as well as magazine covers featuring former president Corazon Aquino and President Duterte, among others.

She also promised Paolo not to be dramatic during their meeting, expressing her desire to meet the presidential son as they have yet to be introduced to each other.

“For those who are asking why I am doing this – because I’d rather have tried and reached out and possibly be rejected than regret not making a move when I saw an opportunity to open communication lines…I shall await for your decision and pray that my effort won’t be snubbed,” she wrote.

Aquino said she would respect it if Duterte would turn down her invitation.

Paolo has yet to respond to Aquino’s post.

Earlier, Aquino also posted an image of her and her mother, with a caption defending the latter’s contribution to the country.

“So much of our history is trying to be rewritten and erased by those paying their trolls and fake news purveyors to whitewash their culpability for the killings and suffering they inflicted on our country during the years before our democracy from the dictatorship in 1986,” the post read.
