MANILA, Philippines — The Senate panel on Tuesday has junked the ethics complaint filed against Sens. Leila De Lima, Panfilo Lacson and Antonio Trillanes IV.
The Senate ethics committee, headed by Sen. Vicente Sotto III, dismissed the complaints against the three due to lack of jurisdiction.
Lacson and Trillanes are facing ethics complaint filed by former Customs chief and now Office of Civil Defense Deputy Administrator III Nicanor Faeldon.
The two senators earlier accused Faeldon of receiving millions of grease money from the Bureau of Customs.
Faeldon sought the Senate ethics panel to review Trillanes' behavior for abuse of privilege and serious misconduct in what the former Customs chief said is an attack on his character.
He also raised to the ethics committee that Lacson is spreading lies for maligning his character.
The Senate ethics committee also junked the ethics complaint filed against detained Sen. Leila De Lima for allegedly ordering her former aide, Ronnie Dayan, to ignore the summons of the House of Representatives.
Dayan and De Lima both invited as resource speakers in the House' probe into the alleged drug proliferation in the New Bilibid Prison.
De Lima is facing a separate case of disobedience to summons pending before the Quezon City Metropolitan Trial Court on the same issue. — with reports from Paolo Romero
