MANILA, Philippines – The Senate Committee on National Defense and Security will conduct an inquiry into alleged irregularities involving the P15.7 billion procurement of two frigates for the Philippine Navy.

Christopher "Bong" Go, special assistant to President Rodrigo Duterte, will attend the hearing to prove that he had nothing to do with the contract, according to presidential spokesperson Harry Roque.

Go is accused of meddling in the procurement of the Navy frigates, which was initiated during the term of President Benigno Aquino III. The contract, however, was signed during the Duterte administration.
