MANILA, Philippines — For the World Health Organization (WHO), there is no evidence to back claims that the Dengvaxia vaccine has caused other illnesses among those who were inoculated with it.?

According to WHO country representative Gundo Aurel Weiler, they have not done independent studies on Dengvaxia, but based on clinical trials conducted by its manufacturer Sanofi Pasteur, “there were no different hones of dengue documented.”?

“It is the same symptoms and the same expressions of severe dengue... The data that our expert group has looked at is the data generated in the context of clinical trial by Sanofi that were conducted in different countries,” he said in a press briefing on Tuesday at the Department of Health (DOH).

Earlier, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said they would consult the WHO on allegations of the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) that the seven children they autopsied had enlarged organs and bleeding, indicating yellow fever and dengue.

PAO claimed this was after the children were vaccinated with Dengvaxia under the DOH dengue immunization campaign in some  public schools.?

Dengvaxia was manufactured using the virus from yellow fever as base plus re-agents from dengue. Yellow fever, however, can only be found in African.

As this developed, Duque disclosed in an interview over dzMM that the DOH would not turn over all of the 1,187,815 doses of unused Dengvaxia vaccines.

The health chief said they would keep some of the vaccines so these could be used as evidence and studied by the DOH.
