LIVE: Oral arguments on cases vs martial law extension — Day 2
MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court will resume its oral arguments on the four petitions against the one-year extension of martial law in Mindanao.
During the beginning of the new round of oral arguments on Tuesday, constitutional expert Christian Monsod warned that "death of democracy" would follow if the high court fails to enact its duty to review the factual basis of the declaration.
"We appeal to the Supreme Court: Exercise the power of judicial review in a dynamic, expansive manner especially when the Congress fails in its broader responsibility not only to determine sufficiency but also its wisdom," Monsod said.
Tune in to the live audio streaming of the oral arguments scheduled at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018.
