Baguio chills at 14 degrees Celsius
MANILA, Philippines — Baguio’s chill yesterday morning hit its lowest temperature so far this month at 14 degrees Celsius.
The cold breeze, brought by the “amihan” or northeast monsoon, has been affecting Northern and Central Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
PAGASA said Baguio will remain cloudy in the next three days and residents and tourists going to this mountain province will experience a chilly temperature.
Last Dec. 16, Baguio hit a record low of 11.5 degrees Celsius, causing Catholics to shiver at the start of the nine-day “Simbang Gabi.”
A day before that, the highland’s December chill was recorded at 12.8 degrees Celsius.
On Jan. 16, 1963, Baguio temperature dropped to 6.3 degrees, the lowest ever recorded.
The province’s chill usually starts in November and ends in February.
