Nando brewing; rains this weekend
MANILA, Philippines — A brewing cyclone is expected to dump rains over some parts of the country including Metro Manila this weekend.
As of 4 p.m. yesterday, a low-pressure area was spotted 190 kilometers east of Legazpi City in Albay, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
It may develop into a tropical depression within the next 36 to 48 hours, PAGASA said.
The weather disturbance will be locally named Nando once it becomes a tropical depression.
If it maintains its speed and direction, the latent storm is expected to pass the eastern coast of Bicol and Southern Luzon before crossing Central Luzon, said PAGASA weather forecaster Loriedin de la Cruz.
De la Cruz said the low-pressure area would enhance the southwest monsoon, bringing rains over Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) region, Western Visayas and Zamboanga peninsula.
This will also bring rains over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
The weather condition is expected to improve by Monday, PAGASA said.
