MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Tuesday announced the suspension of work in government offices in Metro Manila, Region III and Calabarzon  (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) due to the bad weather.

Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella made the announcement through Malacañang press corps.

"Upon the recommendation of NDRRMC, the Office of the Executive Secretary has announced that work in government offices in Metro Manila, Region III and CALABARZON is hereby suspended," Abella said in a text message sent to reporters.

In a separate announcement online, the Supreme Court also said work in courts are suspended.

"Work in courts in Metro Manila (including SC, CA, SB, CTA), Region III and CALABARZON is suspended due to flooding caused by typhoon," the SC Public Information's announcement read, referring to the high court, Court of Appeals, Sandiganbayan and Court of Tax Appeals.

The state weather bureau is monitoring two weather disturbances, Typhoon Lannie and Tropical Depression Maring.

It warned the public of moderate to heavy rains and possible flashfloods. "Maring" is expected to make a landfall in Aurora-Quezon area this afternoon. — with a report from Ian Nicolas Cigaral
