MANILA, Philippines - President Duterte’s net satisfaction rating remained in “very good” territory in the first quarter of 2017, according to the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.

Three in four Filipino adults or 75 percent approved of Duterte’s work. Only 12 percent said otherwise, yielding a net satisfaction rating of +63.

The remaining 12 percent were undecided, the SWS said.

The poll was conducted from March 25 to 28, using face-to-face interviews of 1,200 respondents nationwide.

It has sampling error margins of plus or minus three percentage points for national percentages, and plus or minus six points each for balance Luzon, Metro Manila, the Visayas and Mindanao.

Duterte’s latest satisfaction score was similar to his December 2016’s +63 net rating (77 percent satisfied against 13 percent dissatisfied).

Satisfaction with Duterte increased 13 points in Mindanao to +87 from +74, classified as “excellent.”

However, his rating dropped nine points in balance Luzon to +51 in March from +60 in December last year.

The President’s satisfaction rating stayed in “very good” territory in the Visayas at +62 from +61.

In Metro Manila, Duterte’s rating climbed five points to +64 from +59.

Duterte’s rating also stayed “very good” in urban and rural areas and across socioeconomic classes.

His rating stayed at +56 from +52 among those in class ABC; +64 among class D or the masa and +60 from +61 in class E.

Satisfaction with the President among men remained “very good” at +65, similar to +66 in December and has not changed among female respondents at +61 from last December.

Duterte’s net satisfaction rating fell by 11 points from +70 to +59 among 18- to 24-year-old respondents.

It was at +59 among 35 to 44-year-olds, six points below the +65 recorded in the previous quarter.

Among 25- to 34-year-olds, his net satisfaction score jumped five points from +66 last December.

Among respondents 55 years old and above, Duterte’s net rating was at +61, up five points from +56 in December.

Satisfaction with the President among 45- to 54-year-olds stayed “very good” at +64, barely changing from +65 previously.

Duterte’s net rating rose four points to +76 from +72 among respondents who had college degrees.

It declined eight points but remained “very good” at +60 from +68 among high school graduates.

Among elementary school graduates, the net rating of Duterte remained “very good” at +64 from +56.

It likewise stayed “very good” at +60 among non-elementary school graduates, up three points from +57.

Results of the latest SWS survey were published in BusinessWorld yesterday.

High satisfaction rating inspires Duterte

The latest SWS survey showing that a majority of Filipinos remain satisfied with President Duterte continues to inspire the Chief Executive, a Palace official said yesterday.

“Although surveys are not his priority, it inspires the President and the national leadership to continue its top agenda of ridding the country of drugs, crimes and corruption, or building a trustworthy government, prosperity for all and peace within our borders,” presidential spokesman Ernie Abella said.

Abella said the administration would have no letup in pursuing reforms and changes in terms of corruption and illegal drugs.

Malacañang also recognized the importance of the people’s trust in the President.

“We value this public trust and will continue to work hard to serve the best interests of the people and fulfill the vision of a nation worthy of the Filipino people,” Abella said.
