LIVE: Senate inquiry into MRT-LRT common station

MANILA, Philippines — The Senate has started a joint hearing on the construction of common station project linking the Light Rail Transit 1 and Metro Rail Transit lines 3 and 7.

The hearing is led by Senate public services committee chair Sen. Grace Poe, who is joined by public works panel chair Sen. Manny Pacquiao. Sen. JV Ejercito serves as the vice chair of both panels.

The construction of the common station is expected to start in December 2017 and be completed by April 2019 after the Department of Transportation and Department of Public Works and Highways as well as concerned parties signed the memorandum of agreement last month.
