Fil-Am appointed as new White House assistant press secretary

MANILA, Philippines — A Filipino-American has recently joined United States (US) President Donald Trump’s administration.

The 23-year-old Filipino-American, Ninio Fetalvo, was assigned to serve as an assistant press secretary at the White House Office of the Press Secretary, according to Filipino community newspaper Asian Journal.

Fetalvo was reportedly asked by US Press Secretary Sean Spicer, his former boss at the Republican National Committee (RNC) where he used to work as the Asian Pacific American press secretary.

He confirmed his appointment by posting his current role at the White House in his LinkedIn profile.

The young assistant press secretary will start working for the Trump administration on Monday. He will work under three deputy press secretaries reporting to Spicer.

In the Asian Journal report, Fetalvo said he is honored to work on behalf of the United States and the American people. He said he is excited to see “what Trump and US Vice President Mike Pence accomplish to truly make the country great again.”

According to Fetalvo’s Linked In profile, he graduated from the George Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Communication. He also previously served as Deputy Director of Strategic Media of the 58th Presidential Inaugural Committee which handled the inauguration of Trump. 

Fetalvo’s previous work experiences include his service as Florida Communications Director for RNC, Deputy Director of Media Affairs for RNC, Deputy Press Secretary of California for RNC, Asian Pacific American Press Assistant and Spokesman for RNC, among others. He rendered his internship also at the RNC as well as Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and served as a legislative intern at the US House of Representatives. — Rosette Adel
