Widow of Korean victim faces alleged killer at Senate hearing

MANILA, Philippines – The Senate public order committee started its investigation on Thursday on the alleged “tokhang for ransom” operation of members of the Philippine National Police alegedly involved in cirminal activities.

The inquiry will focus on the case of kidnap-slay victim Korean businessman Jee Ick Joo who was abducted in his residence in Angeles, Pampanga at later was killed inside the PNP national headquarters in October.

Facing the investigation as resource person is the widow of Jee, Choi Kyung-jin, and the alleged mastermind SPO3 Ricky Sta. Isabel.

The helper of Jee, Marisa Morquicho, is also in attendance as she was abducted along with the Korean businessman. She was luckily freed a day after.

PNP Chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa is present with Anti-Illegal Drugs Group head Superintendent Raphael Dumlao and Justice Secretary Vitalliano Aguirre.

Meanwhile, committee head Sen. Panfilo Lacson declined the plea of Sta. Isabel’s wife Jinky to face the investigation.

Lacson said Jinky’s statements were based on hearsays when she claimed that her husband was a fall guy of higher officials in PNP.
