Sereno suspends work in Cagayan de Oro courts
MANILA, Philippines – Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno on Monday evening announced the cancelation of work in Cagayan de Oro courts on Tuesday following the reported flooding and rainfall warning.
The Supreme Court Public Information Office said Sereno noted PAGASA's declaration of a red rainfall warning over Northern Mindanao.
The court said it would be extremely dangerous for court personnel and litigants to get to their work places due to the continuous rains.
"This is also to allow court personnel to secure themselves and their families," the SC PIO said in its announcement.
On Tuesday dawn, Cagayan de Oro City Council placed the city under a state of calamity. Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno, however, said the situation in the city is beginning to normalize.
