Law dean is new UP president
MANILA, Philippines — University of the Philippines (UP) College of Law Dean Danilo Concepcion has been selected as the national university's president.
The 11-member UP Board of Regents voted for Concepcion to replace Alfredo Pascual who will end his six-year term on February 2017, according to a report from The STAR.
Concepcion is also the executive director of the UP Bonifacio Global City campus, which hosts graduate classes of various colleges.
The other nominees for the UP presidency were UP vice president for administration Gisela Concepcion, Commission on Higher Education commissioner Prospero de Vera, UP Diliman College of Engineering dean Rowena Cristina Guevara, UP vice president for research and development Benito Pacheco and former UP Diliman chancellor Caesar Saloma.
Malacañang earlier appointed three new members of the Board of Regents, namely Frederick Mikhail Farolan, Francis Laurel and Angelo Jimenez.
The Board of Regents is the highest policy making body of the university. — Patricia Lourdes Viray
