PhlPost issues stamp commemorating PAL’s 75th anniversary
MANILA, Philippines - The country’s flag carrier, Philippine Airlines (PAL), is celebrating its 75th anniversary and the Philippine Postal Corp. (PHLPost) is marking the occasion by issuing a commemorative stamp.
The PAL 75th anniversary commemorative stamp features the flag carrier flying over a map of the world.
All the countries in the stamp are colored grey while the Philippines is in blue.
On top of the stamp is the word “Pilipinas” while written below it is “Philippine Airlines 75” and the company’s new slogan: The Heart of the Filipino.
PAL, a trade name of PAL Holdings, Inc., is the nation’s flag carrier. It is the first commercial airline in Asia and the oldest of those currently in operation, with a long and distinguished record in the aviation industry.
The airline was founded in February 1941 by a group of businessmen led by Andres Soriano, one of the country’s leading industrialists.
PHLPost commissioned security printer Amstar Co. to print 101,000 copies of the stamp, to be sold for P12 each.
The stamp was designed by PHLPost graphic artist Rodine Teodoro based on the photo provided by Marla Manundo of PAL.
The stamp and official first day cover are available at the Post Shop of the Central Post Office in Manila and area post offices nationwide. For inquiries, call 527-01-08 or 527-01-32.
