Poe releases video on women’s welfare

MANILA, Philippines – Presidential aspirant Sen. Grace Poe yesterday released a 30-second video on her official Facebook account pushing for the welfare of women.

“Bakit tayong mga babae, binabastos, binabalewala, minamaliit, hinihiya? Sa gobyernong may puso, gagalangin ang lahat. Ganon dapat ang pangulo (Why are we women disrespected, ignored, belittled, shamed? In a government with a heart, everyone will be respected. That’s what a president should be),” Poe said in the video.

“Ako po si Grace Poe, gumagalang sa lahat. Para sa makataong pagbabago (I am Grace Poe, who respects everyone. For humanistic change),” Poe posted on her FB account.

Poe’s camp released the video after her closest rival, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, received flak over his remark about an Australian missionary who was raped and killed in a Davao prison in 1989.

Although she placed second in the latest Pulse Asia survey, Poe said the voters would decide on election day to choose a leader who will serve the people.

“Our attention is focused on programs that will help the poor and improve the lives of our countrymen,” she said.

“Come election day, the people will choose the rightful leader who has the ability to serve the country,” Poe added.
