Duterte: Corruption to worsen under Binay presidency

MANILA, Philippines – Presidential candidate and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte said he sees a miserable future for the country if Vice President Jejomar  “Jojo” Binay wins as president.

In one of his campaign sorties in Antipolo, Rizal early this week, Duterte said that if Binay emerged as the country’s next leader, he sees corruption and disorder worsening.

“Nakita ko kay Binay, ang lalaki ng braso. Aba, hindi madali mag bilang ng pera. One million lang abutin ka ng umaga,” Duterte said.

The tough-talking mayor slammed Binay for his failure to include corruption in his political agenda citing that the vice president avoids corruption issues.

"He cannot talk about corruption because he has a baggage," Duterte said.

Duterte who repeatedly vowed to solve corruption in the government if elected president, said the Philippines is sinking into the pits of poverty due to corrupt government officials and disorder.

"Ok lang matalo ako, but it's important for you to know what is at stake in our country and who can solve it - crime, drugs, corruption," Duterte said.

"Corruption in the government has to end," he added.
