Bongbong tops Arellano University mock polls

MANILA, Philippines – Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. topped the mock elections for vice president held among students of Arellano University in Manila.

In the Arellano University mock polls Marcos got 182 votes out of 355 votes cast or 51.26 percent.

Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte topped the mock presidential elections, garnering 51.5 percent.

The mock elections were conducted university-wide and sponsored by the COMSCI Society in cooperation with Arellano University Politeia and Arellano University Supreme Student Council.

Marcos had earlier topped the mock polls conducted at Adamson University in Manila, receiving 46.35 percent.

His running mate Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago topped the same polls, receiving 64.06 percent of votes from 1,524 respondents.

Marcos said it would appear that Santiago’s popularity with the youth sector has rubbed off on him, which could explain his strong showing in mock polls in universities.

Meanwhile, the consolidation of the so-called Solid North continued over the weekend with the Padilla clan of Nueva Vizcaya led by Rep. Carlos Padilla endorsing Marcos’ vice presidential bid.

Rep. Padilla endorsed Marcos for the vice presidency before thousands of his constituents when the senator’s unity caravan arrived in the province recently.

Padilla’s wife, Nueva Vizcaya Gov. Ruth Padilla and Vice Gov. Lambert Galima personally welcomed Marcos when he arrived at the airport, where hundreds of supporters gathered.

Marcos said he is extremely honored by the overwhelming welcome he has been receiving wherever he goes. He said more than the surveys, it is the warm reception of the people in his Unity Caravan that keeps him inspired to work harder in the campaign.

Aside from Nueva Vizcaya, Marcos also has the endorsement of political leaders in Ilocos Sur, Abra, La Union, Pangasinan, Isabela and Cagayan – all part of the Solid North.

He also got the backing of political leaders in Rizal, Cavite and Laguna as well as Mandaluyong City, Manila, San Juan and Pasig City.
