Roxas camp insists ratings remain strong despite survey results

MANILA, Philippines - The camp of Liberal Party standard bearer Manuel "Mar" Roxas II on Wednesday insisted that his ratings remain strong despite the results of the latest presidential surveys released by Pulse Asia and the Social Weather Stations (SWS).

Roxas ranked fourth with 17 percent in the Pulse Asia survey while he placed third in the SWS survey with 22 percent.

"The latest SWS survey show numbers that contrast sharply with the Pulse Asia survey released yesterday. Sec. Mar is a close second in the SWS poll, mirroring the result in the Laylo survey released on Monday, while he ranks lower in Pulse Asia," Roxas' spokesperson and Akbayan Party-list Rep. Barry Gutierrez said in a statement.

Gutierrez noted that the results of surveys released over the past week produced different results.

He said that the different results show that a substantial number of Filipinos remain undecided on who to support in the 2016 presidential elections.

"In the meantime, we are encouraged that Sec. Mar's numbers remain consistently strong and continue to rise steadily," Gutierrez said.

Gutierrez added that the Roxas camp will stay focused and work harder in conveying the message of "Daang Matuwid" or the straight path.

"We are confident that his support will continue its steady increase and that in the end we will come out on top in the only survey that matters - the May 2016 elections," the lawmaker said.

Vice President Jejomar Binay regained the top spot in the latest Pulse Asia survey. In the latest SWS survey, Binay and Sen. Grace Poe were tied at the top spot.
