Cayetano thanks Duterte for supporting his VP bid

MANILA, Philippines - Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano has thanked Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte for supporting his vice presidential bid in the 2016 polls.

 

In a statement, Cayetano expressed gratitude to Duterte for believing in his ability to serve the country in a higher office. 

 

"I join my fellow Filipinos in hoping for the best. Mayor Duterte is a very decisive person, he’s the type of leader who offers concrete solutions to problems and really takes action," Cayetano said in an interview a day after he officially declared his vice presidential bid in Davao City. 

 

In an interview following their dinner meeting last September 29, Duterte lauded Cayetano for having a "good grasp of practical solutions" for the country's problems of poverty, poor infrastructure, and lack of inclusive economic growth.

 

Asked to compare Cayetano with other possible vice presidential bets, Duterte said: "Wala, wipe out ‘yan sila lahat sa kanya."

 

Cayetano met with Duterte to reportedly convince the outspoken local chief executive to reconsider his decision and run in the 2016 presidential race.
