GMA allegation on signal disruption baseless — SkyCable

Louella Desiderio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - GMA Network Inc.’s allegations of signal disruption during the Kalyeserye or AlDub segment of Eat Bulaga have no basis, SkyCable Corp. said yesterday.

“In reference to GMA Network’s new complaint on latest reports of signal disruption during the Kalyeserye segment of Eat Bulaga, SkyCable Corp. reiterates that it did not experience any network problem that could have resulted in the loss of GMA-7’s signal only, similar to earlier reports covering July to August 2015 period,” the firm said in a statement.

“Once again, we take strong exception to GMA’s claim that the signal interruption is confined only to their network since there is no basis for this insinuation,” the firm said.

If incidents of signal loss did affect certain portions of the network in the areas and period referred to, such would have affected other channels as well, not just GMA-7, the firm said.

SkyCable remains open to continue to cooperate with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) should there be need to further investigate the matter.

“SkyCable commits to continue providing the best service our valued subscribers deserve, regardless of the channel or program they choose to watch,” the firm said.

SkyCable issued the statement following the second complaint of GMA with NTC.

GMA filed a complaint with the NTC as SkyCable subscribers experienced poor signal during the airing of the Kalyeserye or AlDub segment.

In its complaint, GMA cited reports the network received from viewers.

The signal loss was intended to prevent subscribers from viewing the show, GMA said.

Eat Bulaga currently has high ratings due to the millions of fans of the Kalyeserye or AlDub segment.

In August, GMA filed a similar complaint with the NTC.
