Philippine Post issues first comic strip stamps

Evelyn Macairan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - For Valentine’s Day, send love with a little bit of humor.

The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) has issued its first ever comic strip stamps depicting the theme of “Forever in Love” for Valentine’s Day.

The colorful comic strip is comprised of four stamps showing the love story of two people from their younger days until their twilight years.

The first stamp shows a curly-haired cupid with his signature bow and arrow, followed by a stamp showing a smiling boy and girl with a heart-shaped candy between them.

In the third stamp, the couple had grown up and gotten married. The man is shown carrying his wife.

The fourth stamp shows the couple in their old age. Their hair had turned white and they each have walking canes whose handles form a heart shape.

Even the P10 price for each love stamp is enclosed in a heart.

While the stamps can be sold separately, PHLPost believes that stamp collectors will prefer to buy the whole set in order to get the complete love story. PHLPost has printed 64,000 copies of the Valentine’s Day stamp for interested philatelists and lovers.
