New LPA unlikely to become cyclone – Pagasa
MANILA, Philippines - A new low-pressure area entered the Philippine area of responsibility yesterday but it is not expected to intensify into a cyclone in the next 24 hours, the weather bureau said.
At 4 p.m. yesterday, the low-pressure area was spotted 780 kilometers east of Mindanao. Once it intensifies into a cyclone, it will be named Seniang, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said the northeast monsoon and the tail end of a cold front would continue to bring rains over some parts of the country in the next 24 hours.
Bicol, Caraga, Davao and the provinces of Aurora and Quezon would experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms, it said.
Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna, the rest of Central Luzon and the regions of Cagayan Valley, Cordillera and Ilocos will be cloudy with light rains.
The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
PAGASA said Luzon would have moderate to rough seas.
