DOF extends accreditation deadline for brokers
MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Finance (DOF) has extended by one month the deadline for customs brokers and importers to comply with accreditation requirements.
Importers and brokers now have until July 31 to apply for accreditation with the Bureau of Internal Revenue, a pre-requisite before transacting with the Bureau of Customs.
BIR commissioner Kim Henares said the new deadline would no longer be extended.
Failure to apply within the prescribed period will result in the cancellation of the existing accreditation, if any, effective Aug. 1 or the date of expiration as indi- cated in the original BOC accreditation, whichever is earlier.
“We call on brokers and importers to be part of the solution by supporting ac- creditation reform. As this is our second deadline extension, we believe we are giving importers and brokers enough opportunities to participate in this good governance initiative,” Henares said.
