Yolanda victims to continue getting cash grants

Rainier Allan Ronda - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Survivors of Super Typhoon Yolanda in Western, Central and Eastern Visayas will continue to receive their cash grants under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) even if they are now living in Metro Manila or in other provinces.

The beneficiaries need only to present to the municipal or city links their Pantawid Pamilya identification card, cash card or agreement from

the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

The beneficiaries are advised to coordinate with the municipal or city links at the local social welfare and development office of the local governments where they are staying for validation and updating of their household profiles for the processing of their cash grants.

Based on DSWD figures, 23,489 individuals and 5,572 families from Yolanda-hit areas had arrived in the National Capital Region.

The DSWD said beneficiaries who cannot present the required documents will be validated against the Central Office database of beneficiaries.

Municipal and city links are now conducting validation to identify the number of Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries who had left their typhoon-hit towns.

Pantawid Pamilya provides education and health cash grants of as much as P1,400 to a family with three qualified children provided they send their children to school and to health centers for check-ups, and attend family development sessions.

To date, Pantawid Pamilya has benefited 3.94 million families and 8.92 million children nationwide.

Survivors to get compensation faster

Survivors of Yolanda can now collect their employment compensation easier and faster.

Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said the Employees Compensation Commission (ECC) will give priority to the claims of Yolanda victims and their dependents.

“The ECC has made the filing of application for employment compensation claims fast and easy for employee-survivors of Super Typhoon Yolanda,” she said.

Baldoz said the ECC’s administering agencies like the Government Service Insurance System and the Social Security System have also pledged to help speed up the claims and benefits of Yolanda victims.– With Mayen Jaymalin, Jose Rodel Clapano, Marvin Sy
