MANILA, Philippines - A Magnitude 4.4  earthquake rocked parts of Southern Luzon, including Metro Manila, last night but state seismologists said it did not cause any damage or injuries.

The quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) at 7:05 p.m. with its epicenter located at 40 kilometers northeast of Polillo in Quezon province.

It was felt at Intensity 3 in Infanta, Quezon; Labo, Camarines Norte; Arayat, Pampanga and Quezon City; Intensity 2 in the cities of Makati, Taguig, Muntinlupa, Pasay, Antipolo and San Jose del Monte in Bulacan, and Intensity 1 in Caloocan City.

Phivolcs director Renato Solidum said the quake was not expected to generate damage or aftershocks.

He said the tremor was caused by the movement of an “offshore local fault.”

Meanwhile, a 4.3-magnitude earthquake also hit parts of Mindanao yesterday.

The epicenter of the quake, which occurred at 4:30 p.m., was traced to eight kilometers southwest of Jabonga, Agusan del Norte.

It was felt at Intensity 4 in Tubay, Agusan del Norte; Intensity 3 in Butuan City and Tubod, Surigao del Norte, and Intensity 2 in Surigao City.
