Weather bureau PAGASA says "Ineng" has made a landfall over Pingtung Country in southern Taiwan. 

Based on its 5 p.m. weather bulletin, the eye of Severe Tropical Storm Ineng was situated at 275 kilometes north northwest of Basco, Batanes.

It continues to move in a west northwest direction at 20 kilometers per hour. 

"Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal over Ilocos Norte, Apayao and Cagayan (mainland) are now lifted," PAGASA says. 

"Batanes and Babuyan Islands are still warned against strong winds associated with 'INENG'. Furthermore, occasional gusty conditions will still prevail over most of Luzon due to the Southwest Monsoon," it adds.

PAGASA announces that Severe Tropical Storm Ineng is already off the southern coast of Pingtung country in Taiwan.

Based on its 2 p.m. weather bulletin, the center of "Ineng" is located at 185 kilometers northwest of Basco, Batanes.

It has maximum sustained winds of 100 kilometers per hour near the center and gust of up to 125 kph.

"Ineng," which is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility on Saturday afternoon, is moving west northwest at 25 kph.

The city government of Laoag, Ilocos Norte has declared a state of calamity after Severe Tropical Storm Ineng and the southwest monsoon brought heavy rains that caused massive flooding in the area.

Severe Tropical Storm Ineng has made a close approach to Batanes as it heads towards southern Taiwan, PAGASA says. 

In its 11:00 a.m. weather advisory, the eye of "Ineng" was located at 140 kilometers north northwest of Basco Batanes.

It is moving west northwest at 30 kilometers per hour, with maximum sustained winds of 100 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 125 kph.

"Ineng" is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday afternoon, PAGASA adds.

PAGASA says Severe Tropical Storm Ineng has accelerated further, moving closer to Batanes area. 

In its 8 a.m. severe weather bulletin, the center of "Ineng" was located at 105 kilometers north of Basco, Batanes. It is moving west northwest at 30 kilometers per hour, with maximum sustained winds of 100 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 125 kph.

Severe Tropical Storm Ineng was 500 kilometers east northeast of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan as of 10 a.m. on Friday, PAGASA says in its latest Severe Weather Bulletin.

The storm is moving north northwest at 25 kilometers per hour and has maximum sustained winds of 95 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 115 kph.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 remains raised over Batanes while Signal No. 1 is hoisted over the following areas:

  • Cagayan, including Babuyan Group of Islands
  • Isabela
  • Apayao
  • Kalinga
  • Northern Abra
  • Ilocos Norte

Tropical Storm Ineng maintains its strength while slightly slowing down but it is still likely to intensify into a severe tropical storm in the next 24 hours, PAGASA says.

By Friday, "Ineng" is forecast to near extreme northern Luzon where moderate to occasionally heavy rains, which may trigger flash floods and landslides, are expected over Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Group  of Islands, Ilocos Norte and Apayao.

Signal No. 1 is still up over Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Group of Islands, Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Northern Abra and Ilocos Norte.

as Tropical Storm Ineng moves west northwest at 15 kilometers per hour.

According to PAGASA's Severe Weather Bulletin No. 4, 'Ineng' was 725 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora as of Thursday morning. The storm has maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of 90 kph.

Tropical Storm Ineng was 840 km east of Casiguran, Aurora as of 3 a.m. on Thursday, PAGASA says.

The storm has maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of 80 kph.

The storm is moving west northwest at 15 kph.

The tropical depression is seen to leave the Philippine area of responsibility on Sunday, August 25.

Tropical Depression Ineng is expected to intensify into a tropical storm in 12 to 24 hours.

"Ineng" is not expected to make landfall on any part of the country and will possibly exit the Philippine area of responsibility on Sunday, August 25.

Its eye was last spotted at 975 km east of Virac, Catanduanes at 4 a.m. It packs maximum sustained winds of 55 kph and gusts of 70 kph.

The low pressure area located east of Virac, Catanduanes intensifies into a tropical depression and is assigned the local name "Ineng."

PAGASA will begin issuing severe weather bulletins on the tropical cyclone at 11 p.m. today.
