Sen. Migz Zubiri, likely to become next Senate president, announces that Sen. Nancy Binay will lead the committees on accouns and tourism.

Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian will head the ways and means, as well as the basic education committees while the blue ribbon committee is being offered to Sen. Francis Tolentino.

  • Games and Amusements - Lito Lapid
  • Health - Christopher "Bong" Go
  • Labor - Joel Villanueva
  • Local Government - Francis Tolentino
  • Public Information and Mass Media - Bong Revilla
  • Public Order and Dangerous Drugs - Ronald Dela Rosa

Aside from electing Sen. Vicente Sotto III as Senate president during the first session of the 18th Congress, the chamber also elected the following leaders to the same roles that they held during the 17th Congress:

  • Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto
  • Juan Miguel Zubiri as chairman of the Committee on Rules, and therefore majority leader
  • Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon
