The Department of Transportation (DOTr) leads the groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of active transport infrastructure in Quezon City on Monday.

The agency says that the expansion project includes the construction of 2.0-kilometers of bike lanes, sidewalk improvement, and construction of public utility vehicle (PUV) stops along Elliptical Road and Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City. — Rosette Adel

Transport Secretary Jaime Bautista on Monday leads the groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of active transport infrastructure in Lipa City, Batangas.

According to the Department of Transportation, the expansion of the project includes the 76.70 kilometers of Class 2 and 3 bike lanes that will connect Lipa, Batangas Cities, Antipolo City, Cainta,and San Mateo in Rizal.

The Department of Transportation reports that it started the construction of expanded cycling infrastructures in Kalibo, Aklan.

It says that thousands of Kalibonhon active transport users will enjoy a safe bike lane network by December 2023 because of this.

Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista says that "the initiative goes beyond bike lanes, as cyclists and road users need to be safe."

"We want to establish the necessary infrastructure to ensure cycling is a safe mode of daily travel, no longer just for leisure," Bautista says during the groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of active transport infrastructure in Kalibo.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar says the first section of the Cavitex C5 Southlink — the 2.2-kilometer flyover crossing South Luzon Expressway traversing Taguig and Pasay City, will be opened to the public. 

“We are supportive of road engineering solutions for everyday problems. This is a vital project that will cut travel time in half from the usual 1.5 hours spent to cross from Villamor Airbase, Pasay area to Taguig City," Villar says. 

"With 3 lanes in each direction of this flyover, passage of the antcipated 8,000 vehicles will be eased when they use the flyover starting 8:00PM sharp tonight,” he adds. 

The P1.6-billion C5 Link flyover is now accessible to vehicles plying between Fort Bonifacio, C.P. Garcia (C5), Taguig City, Parañaque City, Las Piñas City and Pasay City.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar announces the Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3 Plaza Dilao ramp is set to be opened in July.

"Construction of Skyway Stage  3 is in full blast. We are working 24/7 to deliver the infrastructure this July," Villar says. 

The project, which will connect NLEX and SLEX, will be "substantially completed" within the year.

“Section 1 from Buendia Avenue in Makati City to Quirino Avenue in Nagtahan, Manila is now 83 percent completed, while Section 3 from Ramon Magsaysay Avenue to Balintawak is 81 percent completed,” says Villar. 

The Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3 is an 18.68-kilometer elevated expressway stretched over Metro Manila from Buendia, Makati City to Balintawak, Quezon City.
