The Filipino Nurses United calls on the government to the entry salary of both public and private nurses to P50,000, implement a safe nurse-to-patient ratio, and regularize contractual workers to prevent nurses from seeking employment overseas and leaving the profession.

FNU also urges the government to hire more healthcare workers and to regularize contractual nurses, including job order nurses, Nurse Deployment Program nurses, and contract of service nurses in the hopes to address the exodus of nurses, who are hailed as heroes in the country.

“These measures will surely decrease the number of nurses from leaving—either the hospital, the nursing profession or the country,” FNU says. — Gaea Katreena Cabico
