Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon says Sen. Francis Pangilinan is amenable to further discussion on his resignation as LP president.

"Anyway, it’s effective June 30 and we have time to review the situation. There will be a meeting at the end of the month," he says.

He adds there is no clamor within the former ruling party for Pangilinan to resign.

" In fact if there’s a clamor, as far as I’m concerned, it is for him to stay," he adds.

Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon, vice chairman of the Liberal Party, says Sen. Francis Pangilinan's resignation as party president was unexpected and adds he hopes that the senator reconsiders.

"We are deeply saddened by his resignation as our party president. We did not expect it, especially in times like this when we need a steady hand to lead the party alongside Vice President Leni Robredo," he says in a press statement.

"While his resignation is a class act, we hope that he will reconsider his decision. We will try to convince him to reconsider his decision and ask the party leadership to not accept his resignation," Drilon also says.

Opposition Sen. Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan has resigned as president of the Liberal Party. The senator, based on a press release, has handed his letter of resignation to Party chairperson Vice President Leni Robredo.
