Malaysia's Mahathir bin Mohamad's official visit to Philippines

President Duterte welcomes Malaysian leader Mahathir Mohamad at Malacañang Palace.

In an earlier television interview on ANC, Mahathir warned the Philippines against loans from China. "If you borrow huge sums of money from China and you cannot pay—you know when a person is a borrower he is under the control of the lender. So we have to be very careful with that," he said.

Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir bin Mohamad arrives in the Philippines for a two-day official visit upon the invitation of President Rodrigo Duterte.

The two leaders are set to hold a bilateral meeting to discuss political, economic and people-to-people cooperation, the Department of Foreign Affairs announced.
