Cancellation of Enrile's bail sought
Cagayan Gov. Manuel Mamba asks Ombudsman Samuel Martires to seek the cancellation of bail of ex-Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile.
The Supreme Court in 2015 granted the motion of Enrile, who faces plunder charges over the pork barrel scam before the Sandiganbayan, to be granted bail citing humanitarian considerations.
“Enrile’s poor health justifies his admission to bail,” the SC ruling said.
Mamba argues that Enrile's filing of his Senate candidacy which requires a "strenuous" national campaign means that the former senator "is not so 'ill' as to be incapable of flight" as declared by the high court.
