Commemoration of the 32nd year since People Power
Former President Fidel Ramos, soldiers and police are on Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue in Quezon City to reenact the "salubungan", or the consolidation of civilian activists and the military during the 1986 People Power Revolution.
The traditional reenactment of the salubungan is part of the 32nd anniversary of People Power, which ousted Ferdinand Marcos from power after two decades in power.
Discontent with a perceived lack of progress and change after People Power and a resurgence of nostalgia for the Marcos years have led to simpler and downplayed commemorations of the revolution since 2016.
