The Philippine Coast Guard says it monitored more than 125,000 passengers in all ports across the country on Easter Monday, the last day of holiday in the Holy Week season.

It says it recorded 70,535 outbound passengers and 55,152 inbound passengers from 6:00 a.m. to noon of Monday. — AFP

The Philippine Coast Guard says it monitored more than 26,000 passengers flocking ports nationwide from midnight to 6:00 a.m. of Sunday.

It says there were 13,204 outbound passengers and 13,201 inbound travelers.

There are 2,719 frontline personnel in 15 PCG districts deployed to inspect 124 vessels and 70 motorbancas.

Passengers going by coach from the UK to France on Saturday, the first day of the Easter holidays, experienced huge delays due to lengthy French border checks, Dover port authorities say.

Long waits for travellers at the port at the start of school holidays have become more frequent since Brexit, which ended free movement from Britain to EU member states.

Ferry firm DFDS said waiting time for coaches to board ferries on Friday evening was around seven hours. — AFP
