The Supreme Court’s Third Division dismisses the rape and acts of lasciviousness charges filed against actor-host Vhong Navarro.
The Division, in a 43-paged ruling made public Monday, says it granted the Petition for Review on Certiorari filed by Navarro’s legal team.
“The Decision dated July 21, 2022 and the Resolution dated September 20, 2022 of the Court of Appeals in CA-G.R. SP No. 166222 are reversed and set aside,” it adds.
The said CA ruling has reversed the Department of Justice resolutions that dismissed the charges against Navarro. The appeals court then ordered the filing of rape and acts of lasciviousness against the actor.

The National Bureau of Investigation says actor Vhong Navarro was transferred to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology facility in Taguig City at around 4:00 on Monday.
The transfer was done after completion of required health protocols, the bureau adds.

Actor Vhong Navarro is set to be transferred to a Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Taguig City Jail Male Dormitory from the National Bureau of Investigation detention.
The NBI says Navarro, who is detained over a rape charge, will undergo medical examination, including RT-PCR test, prior to his transfer to BJMP.

Ferdinand “Vhong” Navarro refused to enter any plea in the rape charge filed against him over two 2014 incidents involving model Deniece Cornejo.
Navarro attended the arraignment virtually before the Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 69 on Tuesday.

The camp of model Deniece Cornejo, now led by lawyer Howard Calleja, says they received an order from Taguig Regional Trial Court denying the continued stay of actor and television host Vhong Navarro in the National Bureau of Investigation.
Cornejo's camp will push for Navarro's immediate transfer to the Taguig City jail.
