Lucky for content creator David Guison, he got the chance to live just like this when a supposed three-week trip to Siargao turned into three months of island life. “Everything was unplanned but ended up being the best decision ever,” Guison told Philstar.com in an email interview.
For Guison, work-life balance in Siargao is one of the reasons people fall in love with it, as seen in how he never stops hustling as a content creator, while still embracing the adventures the island has to offer.
Philstar.com asked Guison how we can enjoy Siargao the way he does, and here are three things he has to say:
1. Keep an open mind for new experiences
More than just surfing, Siargao has a lot of unspoiled natural beauty that is sure to captivate your heart. While the community may be small, you will be surprised by how interesting the people are and how they radiate positive energy that makes the place more magical!
For this, Guison has an important reminder: bring an open mind and be prepared to meet lots of people because you will love the small community and the relationships you can foster on the island.
2. Live in the moment
“What I really love about island life is that you wake up without a plan,” said Guison.
Siargao has a lot to offer, from resorts and coffee shops to beautiful beaches, making planning an itinerary a difficult task to do. Worry not as you can still enjoy the island the best way—spontaneously.
Embracing this mindset, Guison recounted how easily he could go from surfing to hopping off to a coffee shop to squeeze in some work and see where the day takes him.
“Sometimes you’re in the mood to surf and explore the island; sometimes you just want to lay on the beach the whole day. Most days, I go to my favorite coffee shop, squeeze in some work and see where the day takes me!”
As a content creator always on the lookout for new experiences, Guison loves to immortalize his Siargao escapade using his camera. “The OPPO Reno5 has everything I need to help me with my content creation.
