MANILA, Philippines — Actress Anne Curtis recently led the 25th anniversary fashion show of a Filipino apparel brand she endorses.

Curtis was among the models who showcased the silver anniversary collection of Filipino label Plains & Prints in Makati City.

Hosted by Tim Yap, the fashion show presented the brand's anniversary collaboration with 13 of the country's top designers: Rajo Laurel, Randy Ortiz, Rhett Eala, Vania Romoff, Maureen Disini, Amina Aranaz, Patty Ang, Rosanna Ocampo, Anthony Ramirez, Cheetah Rivera, Martin Bautista, Charina Sarte and Mark Bumgarner. The collection, available in stores nationwide starting July 31, also featured prints from the travel photos of top fashion photographers Wig Tysmans and Mark Nicdao.

In 1994, the brand's co-founder Roxanne Farillas had a simple dream—to make timeless, elegant style accessible to Filipinas. That dream set its roots in a small Greenhills store, where she sold simple tops and blouses.

“When we signed our first ambassador in 2002, we didn’t want girls who were just pretty or popular. We want our women to be fun, but still have that sense of style that is timeless,” Roxanne explains in a statement.

The brand found its first icon in Gretchen Barretto. “She is beautiful the moment she wakes up. She doesn’t even look like she tries. That’s what the brand is all about—being simple, understated, yet effortlessly beautiful.”

Twenty five years later, Roxanne’s small dream has taken on a life of its own, expanding to more than 90 branches run by a team of over 400 people. The brand takes pride of employing homegrown talent and creating its own prints in-house.

“Our anniversary collection might celebrate the people who have supported us in the last 25 years, but the beautiful thing about Beyond 25 is that it’s not bound by the styles of that era,” says Roxanne. “That’s the secret—it’s timeless. We will stick to our core and continue creating classic pieces for the modern Filipina.” — Deni Bernardo
