Victoria’s Secret Angel boasts of Filipino beauty routine in Vogue video
MANILA, Philippines — In a new makeup tutorial video for world-renowned fashion magazine Vogue, Kelsey Merritt did not only proudly declare that she is the first Filipino model to ever walk at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
In the video, the 21-year-old model from Pampanga also shared her skincare and makeup routine, which includes using coconut oil on her body, drinking a lot of coconut water, and putting aloe vera extract on her scalp.

In the Vogue video, Kelsey even showed her aloe vera plant, from which she gets the extract that she spreads all over her scalp.
The Philippines has been known for its abundance in coconuts and aloe vera. Filipinos have been traditionally using “gugo” or aloe vera extract on their scalp to make hair shinier.
As for makeup, Kelsey said she likes to work with everything brown, nude and the bronzed look because she wants to keep that tanned look, the signature color of Filipinas.
Her makeup artists also told her that because of her Asian gene, her eyebrows naturally go down, so she keeps them up by brushing them with eyebrow gel.
According to her, becoming the country’s first model to become a Victoria’s Secret Angel means a lot to her and the people back home because they love Victoria’s Secret so much and they always liked to have a Filipina model to walk in the show.
“I feel like it’s not just a success for me but also a success for them.”
