Tory Burch brings on the ‘happy times’

It’s very Tory Burch to name its latest signature print “Happy Times.” According to Tory Burch, she was inspired by how the phrase evokes beauty, strength and optimism. It is a nod to the 2001 memoir of the same name by Lee Radziwill — socialite, PR executive, interior decorator and younger sister of the late Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis — and the main print for the season. A floral pattern that subtly references the pink carnations of Pina Bausch’s Nelken, the print is expressed in different colorways (pale pink, ivory, ice blue and black) in the fall 2018 collection. It’s also the prominent theme at Tory Burch’s fourth retail location and largest store in the Philippines at Rockwell's Power Plant Mall.

Recently, Stores Specialists, Inc., the exclusive distributor of Tory Burch in the country, held a celebration for the store just in time for the arrival of the label’s fall collection, with several pieces exclusive to Power Plant Mall. With a clean and modern façade, large windows, lightboxes featuring seasonal campaigns, and brass detailings, the new store is a head-turner at the mall’s first level. In keeping with all Tory Burch stores, the interior is cozy and has a residential feel — like a living room surrounded by beautiful objects. Oak panel walls and cane tables are a neutral backdrop for boldly patterned furnishings. My favorite part, the sofa, is the next best thing to the collection itself; like a Tory Burch fitted cloud that encourages sitting for long periods of time.

The collection at the Power Plant Mall boutique includes ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes, watches, and fragrance. New fabrications, finishes and textures are prominent. Soft, relaxed fabrics are contrasted with structured poplin, cotton chino and a bonded wool satin. Cascading ruffles are finished with an organza edge. An eclectic mix of patterns gives the store and the collection a romantic, bohemian spirit, while pared back accessories highlight the label’s effortless style.
Fall products exclusive to the boutique include a patchwork caftan in Happy Times print, two Gemini Link handbags and the Scallop sneaker in pink and navy.
