WATCH: Jennylyn Mercado opens up about her insecurities
MANILA, Philippines — Despite being tagged as one of the most beautiful faces in local show business, Kapuso actress Jennylyn Mercado admitted that she still has insecurities.
In an interview with the media during the sidelines of the launch of international cosmetic brand Max Factor, for which Jennylyn is the first Filipina ambassador, Jennylyn said that now that she is aging, it is difficult to maintain her figure.
“Lahat naman tayo meron e (insecurities). Siguro sa ngayon like medyo nagkakalaman ako sa lower part, and hirap na 'pag medyo nagkaka-edad ka na, mahirap nang magpapayat, na maging fit,” the actress said.
“Marami pa rin akong insecurities. I can’t wear (a) two-piece (bikini) kasi mayroon din akong stretch marks. Ang dami, madami,” she added.
According to the international cosmetics brand, they tapped Jennylyn as their first Filipina endorser because the actress is the “epitome of fearless beauty.” They describe the actress as a warrior in her life as she has risen above life’s challenges and continues to win with her determination, self-acceptance, authenticity, and empathy.

For Jennylyn, makeup is more for self-expression and letting her own beauty shine through.
“Being empowered means having the freedom to express yourself and be more confident in who you are. Makeup lets you do just that. It gives you freedom as an individual to bring out the best version of you, in every ups and down you experience. Even just through applying makeup, I am able to show myself that whatever happens, I will never lose sight of who I am and who I want to be,” she said. — Videos by Erwin Cagadas Jr., editing by Kat Leandicho
